About Everyone Can Play

Everyone Can Play is our whole class instrument by instrument approach that supports large group performing, composing and improvising. It was originally developed by Musical Futures Australia for younger children who are just getting started with playing instruments in groups and we love using the animal songs with students from Year 2 upwards!

With our younger musicians, we start with Ukulele as it's an instrument that is small enough for little hands to play. If you teach elementary or EYFS music, you can grab our *free* ECP Uke resource from our website and give it a go!

The aims of Everyone Can Play are:

  • to support teachers to make the step to becoming musical leaders, leading through playing
  • to enable students to build foundational musical skills such as playing as part of an ensemble, hearing and keeping a pulse, listening, following, and interpreting musical symbols and building instrumental skills on several instruments
  • to support students to play, improvise and compose their own music as a group
  • to support the development of democratic learning environments in the music classroom
  • to introduce younger students to a variety of popular music genres including reggae, country, rock, hip hop and more through a series of specially composed pieces aimed to engage younger learners

Musical Futures International has also developed Everyone Can Play resources for bass, guitar and keyboard which launched at our Asia workshops back in November 2018 and we will soon be launching the next in the series with a working title of Everyone Can Sing. Watch this space for more information!

All delegates at our 2-day international training events or who have us into school to work with staff or students receive unlimited downloads of all current and future resources from our website including Everyone Can Play!
