About MF: Styles
Grounded in sub genres of popular and music from around the world and building on skills learned through Everyone Can Play and Just Play units, MF: Styles breaks a song down into parts including bass lines, chords, riffs, groove and a solo section for students to then rebuild through whole class performance.
The resource supports students to learn each part and also builds confidence with improvising within a class performance. Ideal for use with older students, the new-look audio and visual resources and play alongs embedded through the resource allow students to develop and demonstrate their instrumental skills across several instruments.
Musical Futures International has developed a range of MF: Styles resources which all delegates at our 2-day international training events will receive free of charge as well as free and unlimited downloads of all current and futures resources from our website* Our workshop programs for Europe and Asia as well as Australia and New Zealand schedules can be found here.
* Please note that this does not apply to workshops led by Musical Futures UK.

About the free resources
Using the song Havana, the 'Style' featured in this free resource is based on The Habanera which is:
•A traditional Cuban rhythm that has lots of variations
•Based around a 3-2 son clave
•Features a “cinquillo” pattern on percussion
•Also features a piano ostinato (repeated phrase)
The resource breaks the song down into parts for bass, keys, uke and class percussion and there is a section for students to solo as well.
