Groove Your Classroom takes drum kit rhythms and places them across common classroom percussion instruments and shows how these can be delivered in practical ways that are both musical and theoretical .
The classroom workshop is then built around those grooves giving the piece a particular groove or energy from which to build the whole class composition.

There are three units in the series.

  • Groove 1 focuses on the the basic Rock beat (back beat) and Disco
  • Groove 2 focuses on Caribbean rhythms adding Reggae, Dancehall and Tumbao
  • Finally Groove 3 adds Afrobeat (Nigeria), Cumbia (Columbia and South America) and Bhangra (Northern India) grooves.

Groove resources include play alongs, how to use the instrument videos, audio resources and background/historical/cultural information on each of the grooves.
